But I might be a little biased. Like all the books in the Hidden Truth series, Innocent Lies has a kid in the middle of the drama. Unlike the other stories, though, I modeled the kid in this story after my own child. And can you blame me, really? I mean, isn't he the cutest kid ever?
But enough about my Jacob (you can see a more recent photo below). Let's talk about Daniel. He's 8 years old, loves skateboarding, reads like a champ, and was somehow abandoned in the woods behind Eric's house. Eric falls for Daniel right away but turns him over to social services because he figures somebody must be looking for him. And that's when the drama begins.
I think you're going to love Daniel and all the characters in Innocent Lies. And you don't have to wait much longer! The book releases Friday.
Innocent Lies is available for the special preorder price of $2.99. It'll go up to $4.99 soon, though, so don't wait!
Because my son would kill me if he thought I let you think he still looks like that adorable little boy above, here's a more recent photo Jacob and another one of all three of my kids. Lexi is 18, Nick is 20, and Jake is 16.
“Kelsey huddled in the corner, tried to make herself invisible. Outside, she heard a muffled voice, a shout, and the pounding of footsteps across the porch. Then, the unmistakable jingle of keys. The lock turned. The door opened. And her last chance for escape melted like snow.”
–Robin Patchen, award winning author of Finding Amanda and Convenient Lies.
When Eric finds eight-year-old Daniel alone in the woods, he has no idea where the boy came from or how he's survived the wintery New Hampshire weather. He figures once he hands the boy off to child services, his part in Daniel's drama will be over. He couldn't be more wrong.
Kelsey sneaks into Nutfield with a goal and a secret, but when she's arrested and sees Eric, her first and only love, all her plans to expose her enemy fall apart.
Together, Eric and Kelsey fight to protect Daniel, an innocent child caught in a dangerous game. Can Eric help Kelsey bring down her enemies without risking his heart…again? Will Kelsey have to walk away from the only man she's ever loved…again?
